The Apple Pie Trail

Apples in Southern Georgian Bay

Our area is perfect for growing apples as chances of frost in the late spring or early fall are limited because of the protection from Georgian Bay. The Niagara Escarpment keeps that warm lake air in the region, creating a perfect climate for growing apples. Since apples were introduced to the country in the 1840s, local families have come to rely on the abundant apple crop in the fall for their fall and winter recipes, a tradition that continues to this day.

The Apple Pie Trail

The Apple Pie Trail is a culinary adventure trail featuring activities and adventures, restaurants, cafes, apple art and culture, farms, shopping and – of course – apple pie. Here’s a short description of the stops featured on the map, but be sure to follow The Apple Pie Trail on social media, as stops are always being added to the trail and some great special events are featured throughout the year.
