Snowshoeing has been gaining in popularity in Ontario and South Georgian Bay offers a variety of unique scenic trails. Snowshoeing takes minimal equipment, it’s easy to learn for the whole family and it delivers an incredible physical workout.

Scenic Caves Nordic Adventure
Scenic Caves Nordic Centre is set within one of Canada’s sixteen UNESCO biosphere reserves and a spectacular winter playground. With a unique mountaintop location, the Nordic Centre is nestled in 370 unspoiled acres of the Niagara Escarpment.  Glide along a 27km trail network by cross country ski, or hike by snowshoe on 12km of trails. Trails are professionally groomed and track set daily. One of the most unique winter offerings at Scenic Caves can only be experienced with snowshoes. Walk across Ontario’s longest suspension bridge and observe the spectacular view of Georgian Bay and beyond.

Duntroon Highlands
Golf Cafe Trails Retreat: Duntroon Highlands offers 15kms of snowshoe trails with breathtaking views of South Georgian Bay, dramatic landscape and relaxed atmosphere have made it a favourite place for locals and visitors to experience. There are four different snowshoe loops, ranging in length from 1 to 1.5 km.  This includes the Waterfall Trail, The Maze, Escarpment Loop and the epic Horizon Hike, featuring a spectacular view of South Georgian Bay.

Blue Mountain Resort
Set out on a quiet adventure along picturesque Ontario snowshoe trails with extraordinary views of the Niagara Escarpment. Access to Blue Mountain’s snowshoe trails requires a ticket, valid 2020/21 5×7® or Ikon Pass, or 2020 Explore Pass. Tickets and Snowshoe Rentals may be purchased at the Fat Bike and Snowshoe Rental Centre located in the South Base parking lot.

Wasaga Nordic and Trail Centre
Wasaga Beach Provincial Park has some of the finest Nordic skiing and snowshoeing on the Blueberry  Trails in the Ontario. This popular spot has 22 km of trails on ancient tree covered sand dunes 500m in from the coast by the Nottawasaga River. Here you will find not only a variety of trails for all skill levels, but great scenery and solitude. On the back end these dunes get to be rather large hills with loops winding around and over many.

Tomahawk Recreational Complex
The Town of Blue Mountains grooms a hard-packed loop trail at the Tomahawk Recreational Complex throughout the winter season. Weather permitting, set tracks for cross-counrty skiing will be added along the groomed trail.
