Local Breweries Collingwood – Blue Mountain

Posted by Admin on December 10, 2021

In the Georgian Triangle area we are fortunate to have many amenities to keep us busy.  Whether you are new to the area or a long time resident, creating your bucket list of local activities is an absolute must and visiting our local breweries definitely needs to be on that list.

Creemore Springs

The Creemore Springs Brewery is the most established brewery in our area operating in the Village of Creemore since 1987.  This craft brewery is inspired by “European brewing” and focuses on fire brewed beer in copper kettles.  Creemore Springs Brewery is also able to boast about using our fresh, local spring water taken from the Creemore Spring.  This spring flows from the limestone bedrock and is cooled by shaded hardwood forests.

If you would like to take a closer look at this brewery, the retail store is open and tours are offered 7 days per week.

Side Launch Brewery

Perhaps our largest brewery, Side Launch Brewery (named Canadian Brewery of the year in 2016 by Canadian Brewing & Awards Conference), has been up and running in Collingwood since 2014.  Side Launch was built around the Brewmaster Michael Hancocks two signature beers…wheat and dark larger, but the name pays tribute to the ship builders who helped to put the town of Collingwood on the map.  At this brewery, all beer is unfiltered and never pasteurized.

Tours and retail store are open 7 days a week seasonally and 5 days annually.

The Collingwood Brewery

The Collingwood Brewery has one of largest selections of beers to choose from with 3 main, 3 seasonal, 4 anniversary and 10 series beers offered to customers. Like most craft breweries, Collingwood is focused on producing an all natural and fresh product using classic styles of traditional brewing.  The tap room and retail store are open Thursday to Sunday with tours offered. Check out the website for special events, live entertainment, trivia nights and beer yoga!

Northwinds Brewery

Now with two exciting locations, Northwinds Brewery offers exceptional beer and fabulous food.  Whether at the Collingwood or Blue Mountain Village location, the causal, farm-to-table fine dining pairs well the over 48 different types of beer made onsite.  Produced in small batches, this beer is guaranteed to be fresh.  Although not available through the Beer Store or LCBO, the in house retail store is open seven days per week for your convenience.

Thornbury Village Cider House

The Village of Thornbury is also no stranger to the craft beer trend either with its Thornbury Village Cider House, established in 2007.  While fresh cider produced with 100% fresh pressed local apples (including the only Red Prince Apple producer in Canada!) may be the mainstay of this business, the Pilsner and Lagers produced onsite are sure to impress the beer drinkers of the family.  Check out the website for fun recipes to pair with your favourite beer or cider and stop into the tasting room open daily.

Black Bellows Brewing Co.

Black Bellows believes in the spirit of relentless invention, it’s why they support imagination in the community. They embrace a no-rules approach to brewing, and it’s why Black Bellows is a place where the old is transformed into the fantastically new. Forge ahead on an adventure of beer, food, and art right in the heart of Collingwood’s historic downtown. Their bottle shop is open daily, and their brew pub is open Wednesday through Sunday.
