Cascade Hiking Trail

As I have been a resident in Collingwood for over 10 years now, I have become very familiar with different trails, and which ones I prefer the most. In the past few years, I have made it a routine to hike up the Cascade Trail at Blue Mountain every morning. It is during this hike that I give my golden retriever somewhere to release all of his energy, and get in some exercise for myself as well. Personally after hiking up, I also enjoy running across the top, catching the early morning sunrise, then hiking down into the village by using the Village Trail. All in all, it is a great hike that I highly suggest you try.

If that’s too much for you, Blue Mountain runs a gondola ride during their operating hours for a nominal fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does it take to hike up the mountain?                                                                                                                              To hike up Cascade Trail it takes about 20-25 minutes. If you prefer the loop that I suggest, and hike back down Village trail, it will take closer to an hour.
  • What should I bring on the hike?                                                                                                                                                            If you decide to take this trail I highly suggest bringing a water bottle, wear a good pair of running shoes, a friend to enjoy it with you, and a phone to take some photos.
  • Any cautions?                                                                                                                                                                                                 While this trail has steps, and a good walking path, I highly suggest that when the ground is wet you take your time, and be cautious. It is easy for you to slip when the ground is wet (especially on the wood steps, and bridges), so please take your time!
